BigIR
Back to Equipment
I spent 10 months solely on 30m using the monoband L-vertical. During that time I worked 77 countries. However I missed the other bands, and SSB activity. So I replaced the 30m vertical with an elevated BigIR. This provides all bands 40-6m. Again I used a single elevated radial per band.

The EHU is mounted at gutter height |

The guys are 3mm Dyneema rope from Peter DK1RP |

Detail of mounting brackets. The top K-bracket is above the EHU for mechanical stability |

View from across the road. I have kept a careful watch on the antenna in high winds, so far I've been impressed with its stability in high winds |

View from the neighbours. The BigIR is almost the same height as the 30m vertical-L that it replaced. So visual impact was hardly changed. |
