United Nations Day

Back to Contests

29-30th Oct Oct 14 2012

I participated in the United Nations Day special event, by receiving the 17.2 kHz transmission from the World Heritage Radio Station Grimeton, Denmark.

The Grimeton transmitter was built in 1922-24 and is the only surviving alternator-type transmitter of its type left in the world. It is maintained in full working order by The Association Alexander.

The manual CW transmission started at 10:30 UTC and was received at -100dBm with an SNR of 20db on a 1m diameter Wellbrook Loop.

Here are some photos of the event.

I grabbed a piece of cardboard to write on when the transmission began.

The Perseus receiver.
